What to do right now

Burning smell or scorch marks

  1. Stop using the outlet, switch or appliance. Don't touch anything hot, wet or sparking
  2. If it's safe, turn off that breaker or the main. Don't open the panel cover or stand in water
  3. Smoke or fire: get out and call 911
  4. Then call 747-255-8595. A burning smell needs an electrician the same day, even if it stops

Part of the house lost power

  1. Find the tripped breaker. Switch it fully off, then on, once
  2. If it trips again, leave it off, unplug that circuit's loads and call us
  3. Press "Reset" on GFCI outlets (kitchen, bath, garage, outdoors)
  4. Dim or flickering "half" power can mean a failing neutral. Turn off electronics and call

Whole house dark

  1. Neighbors dark too? Report it to LADWP: 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397), 24/7
  2. Only your home? Check the main breaker. If it's on and you still have no power, call 747-255-8595
  3. Stay away from downed or sagging lines and report them to 911 and LADWP

What we handle 24/7

  • Burning smells, sparking or warm outlets and switches
  • Breakers that won't reset, partial outages, buzzing panels
  • Damaged service entrances: weatherheads, masts, drop wires
  • Water near electrical; fire- and smoke-damaged wiring
  • Commercial outages

What to tell us when you call

Having this ready helps us send the right electrician with the right parts:

  • The address and the best callback number
  • What you see, smell or hear (smoke, scorch marks, buzzing, sparking, flickering)
  • Whether part or all of the home is out, and whether neighbors are out too
  • Which breaker tripped, if you know, and whether it resets
  • Anyone hurt, water involved, or a downed line? Call 911 first

Why it can't wait

  • Heat, a burning smell or sparking means overheating connections or damaged insulation, and that can get worse without warning
  • A breaker that keeps tripping is protecting you. Don't force it on or swap in a bigger breaker
  • Water near outlets or the panel is a shock risk. Keep people and pets away until it's checked
  • After a storm, tree strike or fire, a damaged mast or weatherhead can pull loose. Stay clear and call

Storm, tree and fire damage

  • Damaged service masts, weatherheads and drop wires repaired or replaced
  • Smoke- and heat-exposed panels inspected before power is restored
  • LADBS permit handled and LADWP reconnection coordinated when service equipment is replaced
  • Temporary make-safe first, so the hazard is isolated while parts or permits are lined up
  • Commercial service restored so a business can open

What happens when you call

  1. A licensed electrician answers and helps you make it safe
  2. We dispatch a licensed electrician and stay on the phone until it's safe
  3. We isolate the hazard, then give repair options and a price before work starts
  4. We handle the LADBS permit and LADWP coordination when panel or service work is needed

Quote requests: we typically respond within 15 minutes. Longer-term fixes: panel upgrade costs

After the emergency

Many emergencies have a deeper cause:

  • An overloaded or failing panel
  • Loose service connections or aluminum branch wiring
  • Old wiring that can't handle today's loads

Once you're safe, we explain what we found and whether a longer-term fix makes sense, such as a panel upgrade, a dedicated circuit or a phased rewire. No pressure.
